31 Days of Peace (Day 7): Pray

credit

After detoxing, self care, no television, and no social media you have carved out a good bit of time for prayer.  Your body is free from the toxins that prevent clarity.  You have said yes to taking care of yourself in addition to everyone else.  You have given yourself a day of peace and quiet with no television, and you have disconnected from the social media world.

At first thought this can sound pretty boring but I know that by now you are feeling better and you are  enjoying peace that surrounds you in the day to day.  But what about peace within?  Have you truly gotten to that yet?  Probably not.  There are probably some things that are still constantly nagging at you or that you are burdened with.  Your journey has only begun.

Prayer.  You have already been praying but it's time for you to pray like you haven't before.  You're still burdened and that's okay, we all experience that sometimes but it is time for you to lay those burdens down and let someone else fix them.  Let someone who knows the exact solution take over for once and see how you feel.

At this point something profound happens.  At least for me it did.  I found myself focused less on me, me, me.  I began to start thinking of others hurts and pains.  Once I focused on someone other than myself I realized that I wasn't as bad off as I thought.  I am truly blessed.

After praying for peace and seeking it God provides you with just that indeed!  (I'll go more into this later in the series) Don't be shy with God.  Talk to him like you would talk to your girlfriend.  Matter of fact, talk to Him before you talk to your girlfriend.  Your girlfriend, homie, etc can't solve your problems.  The only thing they can do with you is to instigate and add trouble to an already blazing flame.  If you need a fire extinguisher get on your knees and ask the Fireman to extinguish the fire.

You don't have peace because you haven't asked for it.  Matthew 7:7-8 says,

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened".
and Romans 16:24 says,

"Until now you have not asked for anything in my name.  Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete."

Don't take my word for it, just do it and see for yourself.

The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11
